Remarkable Production Tube
- Author/Editor: Likely Donald Holmes
- Date: c. 1920-30s
- Size: 10.25 x 3.75 x 3.75"
- Condition: Good
A very sturdy and heavy square metal tube is shown empty, and then a production of silks is made from within. Like the Japanese Handkerchief box, however, the tube and its secret compartments can be used for chagnes, vanishes, or any combination of various classic silk tricks. Includes EIGHT hidden compartments operated by buttons cleverly concealed by the art deco-like finish to the exterior; each load chamber locks after use so that the tube can be viewed as "empty" at any time. We cannot overstate the cleverness or the quality of the construction of this piece of vintage apparatus - the first of its kind we have seen. Clearly the work of a very skilled craftsman, and working just as well today as it did when first produced nearly 100 years ago. A remarkable vintage magic prop in both design and function. Mild wear, else in good condition. Rare.
