The Twenty Dollar Manuscript

  • FE3673.jpg
$650.00

A contemporary facsimile (most likely unauthorized) of the famous "Twenty Dollar Manuscript” written by Faucett Ross and Dai Vernon in 1933. Despite the high asking price ($20 during the Great Depression), Vernon continued receiving requests for this manuscript of secrets, and sold out his initial printings rapidly. The manuscript became the stuff of legend and the tricks were later collected in Early Vernon by Magic, Inc. Due to the scarcity of the publication - the high price made it out of reach of the average buyer - the manuscript was copied almost immediately. What makes the example offered here so intersting is its association: it bears an inscription in pencil on the first page, presenting the manuscript to Jacob Daley by S. L. Horowitz. Both men were very close personal friends of Vernon and members of magic's "inner circle" along with Vernon. Mild toning, else in good condition.
