Dr. Lynn's Wonderful Telescope

  • MB1602.jpg
$30.00

Perhaps best remembered as the "strange man" of the Victorian stage who inspired Houdini, Dr. Lynn was a successful, accomplished, and world-traveled magician who developed an unusual device - his "wonderful telescope," which could apparently see through solid objects. The optical mystery and its history are laid bare in the pages of this set of notes, which include not only the story of the device's creation, but well-rendered diagrams explaining its working, along with applications for its use in a variety of fashions, including one variation by Lynn's son that apparently allowed a viewer to see through a human being. The work not only explains the method behind the miraculous device (for those who dare to construct their own - the device was later adapted into a toy by Lehmann and others) but also Lynn's uncanny ability to market the 'scope. Wrappers, comb bound, illustrated with drawings and photographs (many in color), 34 pages. Signed and numbered by the author. Illustrated. This book was produced for the 2024 Yankee Gathering in a limited edition of 100, and we have obtained the few remaining copies; as such, QTTE is the only retailer carrying this title, and once supplies are exhausted, they will be gone! We are also stocking a limited number of desktop-size versions of the Wonderful Telescope itself, handmade by the author of these notes, Dean Arnold.
